Sten Franke · ETHORITY archive

Sten Franke designs and builds AI systems, from model testing and cloud setup to the interfaces people use. He connects business decisions, software architecture and practical implementation.

Read the biography

His work spans programming, LLM evaluation, Google Cloud and AWS environments, and web applications built with Next.js and React. He connects business requirements, software architecture and practical implementation. Creator of the Good AI Prism, he brings market intelligence into AI decisions. Earlier, he created the Social Media Prisma, led a BVDW Social Media working group and contributed to its Social Media Kompass. His entrepreneurial work includes ethority, Gridpatrol and mediatime, following a practical foundation in electronics and industrial robotics.

THE WORK TODAY

Connect knowledge to the work that follows.

ETHORITY connects market intelligence, research and practical delivery. The starting point may be a market question, an existing AI estate, a governance need or an investment decision.

The public Workspace is a demonstration; early access is available on request. Customer activation has its own scope, permissions and acceptance conditions.

Read the background

He established ETHORITY & STEN.AI LLC in 2023. Today ETHORITY connects AI market intelligence, research and practical delivery across a wider operating cycle: Discover, Create, Run, Improve and Grow. A client may begin with a market question, an existing AI estate, a governance need or an investment decision. The appropriate work depends on that starting point and on what the organisation can actually operate.

For Franke, choosing a model or buying a tool is one decision within a larger business system. The objective, workflow, data, people, economics and operating responsibilities determine whether the capability becomes useful. Research establishes what is supported. Implementation tests the idea in context. Continuing review shows which assumptions have changed and which decisions deserve another look. The work must remain willing to recommend a bounded pilot, further evidence, redesign or stopping.

The longer-term AI Business Operating System direction connects market knowledge with the organisation’s objectives, projects, systems and continuing learning. Its purpose is to retain the knowledge behind work so that it can be examined and improved. The public Workspace is a demonstration; early access is available on request. A customer engagement establishes its own scope, responsible people, permissions, evidence and acceptance conditions before operational use.

RESEARCH AND AI ENGINEERING

Keep the method beside the claim.

Later work includes generative AI and DNA-methylation analysis in early cancer-detection research. This is research activity; it does not establish diagnostic performance, a clinical result or patient benefit.

Read the background

Franke’s subsequent work has included hands-on generative AI and research-programme activity involving DNA-methylation analysis for early cancer-detection research. That work is described as research. It demonstrates the importance of data, method, expert review and uncertainty in a demanding setting; it does not establish a diagnostic product, clinical result or patient benefit. Scientific and medical uses require their own qualified evaluation and permissions.

VISUAL MARKET RESEARCH

Make a fragmented market understandable.

Sten created the Social Media Prisma. Its historical editions made a changing social-media landscape visible. The Good AI Prism is a separate research product for today’s AI market, connecting business tasks, data types and technology.

The first German Social Media Prisma appeared on 21 September 2009. Each historical artwork retains its own edition and market scope.

Read the background

The Good AI Prism brings that thinking into a visual research product built specifically for the AI market. Three rings connect business applications, data types and the technology stack. Profiles and comparisons let a visitor move from an overview to the conditions behind a particular offering. It is a new product with its own research, structure and purpose. Earlier visual market mapping is part of the founder’s experience, while the German Social Media Prisma belongs to its own historical context.

Search visibility became market observation; internet monitoring developed into social-media intelligence, research and strategic advisory. The question moved from what was being said to which business decision the information should change.

Read the background

After business studies and technology promotion work, Franke founded mediatime in 1997. As the internet changed how companies were found and understood, the work moved from search visibility towards market observation. The question broadened from reaching an audience to understanding what people were doing, which signals deserved attention and what a business could reasonably conclude from the information.

In 2001 he co-founded Gridpatrol, an early machine-learning-based internet monitoring service. In 2005 he founded ethority, developing the work in social-media intelligence, market research and strategic advisory. The recurring challenge was to make a changing information environment understandable and connect what was learned with business action. Those are distinct organisations and chapters, rather than one continuous company with an ambiguous founding date.

INDUSTRIAL ROOTS

The machine is only part of the system.

Electronics, industrial robotics and field service shaped a practical view: sensors, control logic, maintenance, workflow and people have to work together before technical capability becomes productive work.

Read the background

Sten Franke’s career has followed a recurring question: what turns technical possibility into something an organisation can use? He began in electronics, industrial robotics and field service, where a system had to perform outside the laboratory. The equipment mattered, but so did sensors, control logic, maintenance, workflow and the people responsible for the line. A capable machine could still be unproductive when the surrounding system did not work.
